SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Most of the Sioux City Career Academy Pathways are taught the downtown academy location in the district building however, the Early Childhood Pathway is taught at the Clark Early Childhood Center.
The Early Childhood Education Pathway focuses on teaching area high school students practice and research-based teaching strategies.
One of the many advantages the students in this pathway have by being at Clark is they are able to get hands-on experience working directly with students.
Madison Felix, one of the students pursuing the Early Childhood Education Pathway says she has always wanted to be a teacher, and she enjoys being able to apply what she has learned all while earning free college credit.
“We get to take what we learned into the classroom, and then bring it into the classroom with us, so it’s like really nice because it’s an opportunity to take our learning and then experience it,” said Madison Felix, Student.
Felix said originally that she wanted to be a Kindergarten teacher but after working with the students she has decided she will pursue teaching 1st or 2nd grade, potentially saving her money from finding out during college or having to change after starting her career in Kindergarten.
